A study has shown that Coloradans drink 19 percent more alcohol than the rest of the states in the U.S.
Mens Health magazine voted Denver as the America’s Drunkest City in 2007. Colorado Springs was voted as the 3rd Drunkest city and Aurora was the 19th.
According to a report from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, there are four other states that have a higher consumption per-capita which are Alaska, Delaware, Nevada and Wisconsin.
The Colorado State patrol makes more than 9,000 DUI arrests per year and that number doesn’t include other arrests across the state from other police departments.
It’s also estimated to cost approximately $10,000 for a first time DUI offense in Colorado after fines, fees, bail and insurance hikes, so you may want to consider calling a friend before you get into your car after a few drinks.
