Last May, Jeff Reese and Susan Grove were victims of a drunk driver. They were heading home on Two Rivers Road in Basalt, CO when they were hit head-on by another vehicle as they were coming around Emma curve.
Both of them suffered major injuries due to the accident and their bodies were described as mangled. They both also suffered brain injuries and have an unknown amount of time ahead of them in rehabilitation.
Even with all of the troubles and medical bills, they both have forgiven Oscar Canas Portillo, the person who hit them while he inebriated at the wheel.
Portillo will be sentenced in criminal court on January 28th, where he is expected to plead guilty to two counts of vehicular assualt.
Both Reese and Grove have endured many tough days from the day of the horrible accident and now. To read the whole story, read “We’re Fortunate We Came Home” from the Aspen Times.
