Shenell Phillips, 28, is now facing charges after causing a car accident that injured two adults and killed her 17-month-old goddaughter on February 28.

Police have stated that Phillips was drunk when she was driving on the wrong side of the road on 56th Ave and crashed head-on into a silver Mercury.

Ahnesty Brookes, the child, was riding in Phillips’ car and died shortly after the accident. The two women in the Mercury suffered serious injuries and were taken to Denver Health.

Phillips is charged with two counts of driving under the influence, child abuse resulting in death, four counts of vehicular assault, two counts of vehicular homicide and several other traffic counts.

Phillips is currently being held in Denver County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
