In 1985, Nanette M. Post got into her car and drove while she was intoxicated and she hit and killed an 8 year old Denver girl, Karla Rosalia Ricketts on her bicycle.
She had stopped at a stop sign when she waved three children on bicycles to go ahead and cross the street.
As Ricketts began to cross the street, Post accelerated and ran over the girl. She then stopped, backed up and ran her over a second time and left the scene.
She was arrested that same day and charged with second degree murder.
She had to serve 18 years in prison for this crime.
In 2007 she was now living in Corinth, N.Y. where she once again cited for driving while intoxicated and failure to reduce speed on a turn.

This time, Post was driving southbound on a rural road near Corinthe around 1:50 a.m. She had three passengers in her 2000 Dodge Neon at the time; her daughter, Lynette Post, 26, Joseph Wilms, 29 and John Manning, 34.
Apparently, she was just going too fast around a curve when she lost control. She went off the road and hit two trees, then happened to jump back onto the road again.
When the officers arrived, Post admitted that she had been drinking and officers at the scene noted that she was very clearly intoxicated.
She was also cited just a week earlier for driving while intoxicated.
I couldn’t find any more news about sentencing for Nanette M. Post or what she is currently doing, but hopefully she has more control over her drinking problems.
